Last year, he made a shocking move by leaving Paris St Germain to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
And now he is making a surprising move again.
Last week was announced that Messi is working with the creators of the hard seltzer brand White Claw to launch a non-alcoholic hydration beverage company.
Although there isn’t much information available about the new beverage, such as its name or what it looks like, Messi shared his excitement for the project in a short statement.
“I’m really excited about this. I feel like I’m invested as an owner” Messi said.
The announcement has created a lot of excitement in both the sports and beverage industries, even though there aren’t many details available.
Previously Messi already partnered with Budweiser, ABinBev, and Pepsi, so this move is not completely shocking to me. However, that does not mean it will be a success.
For every Prime (co-founded by KSI & Logan Paul) or Casamigos (co-founded by George Clooney) there are hundreds of celebrities that have tried to launch a beverage brand and were unsuccessful.
Here are three reasons why I think this could be very successful.
⚽️ Soccer is becoming increasingly popular in the United States. Messi’s recent move to the MLS as well as other soccer stars will help grow the fan base. Also, the 2026 soccer World Cup will be in the United States.
This will boost the viewership even further. Messi can take advantage of the increasing soccer fanbase to get even more visibility and reach a wider market.
⭐️ Messi is the second most followed person on social media after his rival Cristiano Ronaldo. His star power will raise awareness, make it more trustworthy, and open doors to PR, retailers, and partners.
