A whisper becomes a roar
OpenAI has begun rolling out ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users.
This alpha version showcases GPT-4o’s hyper-realistic audio responses, promising lower latency conversations and the ability to sense emotional intonations in users’ voices.
Safety first, speed second
Following concerns about voice impersonation, OpenAI has implemented strict safety measures.
The company tested the feature with over 100 external reviewers speaking 45 languages. Advanced Voice Mode is limited to four preset voices, eliminating the possibility of impersonating real individuals.
To avoid potential legal issues, OpenAI has introduced filters to block requests to generate music or copyrighted audio.
This move comes in the wake of recent lawsuits against AI companies for copyright infringement in the music industry.
