Open source, proprietary, and ready to party
Mistral AI, founded by Meta and Google’s DeepMind alumni, aims to rival the best-performing AI models today.
The company has released pre-trained and fine-tuned models under an open source license, such as Mistral 7B, Mistral 8x7B, and Mistral 8x22B.

Its most advanced models, like Mistral Large, are proprietary and designed for API-first products.
Investor squad goals
The company has distribution partnerships with cloud providers, including Microsoft Azure, which is also a minor shareholder.
